JUNIOR U13’S CRICKET
MATCH REPORT
Oulton v Saxton
28th May 2009
Saxton 58-7
Oulton 60-1
The second round of the cup – giddy heights for Saxton this season!
It was half term and we were struggling for players and to make matters worse Lewis Cook went down with the lurgy just as the match started. That meant we only had seven players - the bare minimum for a game. But in came the cavalry ‘The Whirling Dervish’ Ken Atkinson and ‘The Occasional’ Will Jefferson.
We batted first and played steadily. Jake Barber made his way to 8 mainly in singles and Josh Otter weighed in with 10 not out. The two part timers George Rehor and Will Jefferson batted very correctly in their knocks. We were a bit light with a total of only 58 though.
The fielding was very keen with good technique. We do need to learn our positions though and make sure that we are back on the boundary for example at Deep Backward Square/Deep Square Leg. The aim is to stop the boundary. George Rehor performed well with the gloves conceding only two byes.
We didn’t bowl many overs before it was all over but the six bowlers who bowled were all pretty tidy. There were a few too many wides though. Keep working on your accuracy lads.
Top Bowler - Ken Atkinson
Top Batsman - Josh Otter
Top Fielder - George Rehor
