JUNIOR U13’S CRICKET

MATCH REPORT

Saxton v Collingham
29th May 2009

Collingham 104-5
Saxton 35 all out

Collingham only came with nine players but they were nine good uns! They batted first and despite having them 29-3 we couldn’t press home our advantage. Joe Ball almost got a hat trick and Josh Otter took his first wicket of the season. Once again (I sound like a stuck record or is it a corrupt MP3 file) we gave away far too many easy runs in wides and no balls – 33 in total. Their final score of 104 was always going to be challenging.

The fielding was not to its usual standard except for Luke Haw who took a good catch to show how it’s done. Henry Jefferson was tidy behind the stumps.

We had to bat out our overs and just see what we could amass. After a steady start from openers Ollie Morrill and Henry Jefferson the wheels came off and wickets fell like ninepins. We needed someone to drop the anchor and see what their depth of bowling was like and to exploit the gaps in a field with only nine men. But once again it was not to be and Saxton remain the strongest team in the league – propping up the rest of them!

Top Bowler     - Joe Ball
