JUNIOR U13’S CRICKET

MATCH REPORT

St Chads v Saxton
19th June

Saxton 97-7
St Chads 98-1

We batted first and our new opening partnership of Oliver Heaton and Will Jefferson started steadily, putting on 25 runs before Will was bowled. Jake Barber, after a nice four, was run out and in came Lewis Cook who was determined to do well. He top scored with 20 and hit a massive six – watch out for my car next time Lewis! Everyone who batted chipped in with runs, proving that the coaches’ Wednesday session concentrating on batting paid off. 97 was our highest score of the season. Well done!

Our bowlers were a little wayward and their openers weighed in and scored 31 and 24 not out, which set them on their way. We couldn’t cope with the artificial surface and it was all over in ten overs.

Nathan Stewart was very tidy behind the stumps. The pitch had a lot of bounce in it and he coped well conceding only one bye. Oliver Heaton juggled a catch to entertain the crowd and the ground fielding was excellent.

Let’s try and take the good points forward to the next match.

Top Bowler     - Josh Worsfold
Top Batsman  - Lewis Cook
Top Fielder     - Nathan Stewart
