Saxton v Sherburn
Saturday 27th April 2017
Match Report by Dan Hewer
Sherburn away, the 1 fixture that if you lose you cant return to the greyhound. The weather gods had been kind during the week, the rain and mud of the previous week a distant memory.
With Gareth on holiday it was down to Dan Hewer to lose the toss, and he duly obliged. Sherburn decided to have a bat, Saxton not too disappointed though with forecasted thunderstorms and a rain rule that favours anyone batting second.
Sherburn raised to 50-0 off 10 overs with Danny Walsh struggling with his line and length and Josh forgetting to go the toilet before the game. Sherburn took advantage. The remaining 35 overs was a different game, not much happened so I've summed it up in picture form:
Man Watching Paint Dry
In truth the second inning wasn’t much better, with Saxton also struggling to get any sort of timing on a difficult wicket. Sherburn kept taking regular wickets to keep things “interesting” but a couple of good overs from the 2 Steves, Hutton and Hills put the game out of doubt and it was comfortable in the end with Saxton having 15 overs left.
We could return to the greyhound with our heads held high, well we could when we eventually made it out of the car park.
